MRI Technician - Per Diem - Outpatient Radiology - Jamaica Estates

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an MRI Technician – Per Diem – Outpatient Radiology – Jamaica Estates. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards, and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave the zone area. Job Responsibilities Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum exceptions. Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and completes exams in a timely fashion. Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies; reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion. Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicums; works with students to perform exams and individual image evaluation. Performs other duties as assigned. Operates MRI equipment to capture diagnostic images of specific body areas or parts as ordered and produces images for radiologist interpretation. Prepares, positions, or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam; ensures quality review of images meets departmental SOP guidelines. Practices patient and employee safety protocols when in the magnetic field; ensures MRI safety protocols are observed. Minimum Qualifications Technical Diploma Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit. ARRT Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of hire or transfer. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem‑solving, and customer‑service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a Radiology Program or related health field. 1–2 years of MRI technologist or related training experience.
