Industrial Mechatronics Maintenance Specialist — Claremont Fiber Plant

A day in this role

You arrive for your 12-hour shift and review your maintenance queue and notes in SAP. A fiber draw tower signals a fault—you isolate energy sources (LOTO), diagnose a control logic issue at the motor control center, and correct a wiring fault in a complex circuit. Next, you perform scheduled PMs on a conveyor system, update your documentation, and coach an operator on safe start-up. Mid-shift, you respond as a Medical First Responder, then partner with the Maintenance Lead to plan parts for an upcoming PLC retrofit. Before clocking out, you verify inventory for critical spares and log your activities with precision.

• Reports to: Claremont Fiber Maintenance Manager
• Pay range: $28–$34 per hour, based on experience
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 2-2-3 rotating, EOWEO

What you’ll do

• Set up, install, troubleshoot, repair, and test complex electromechanical equipment (automatic machines, process controls, MCCs, HMI/PC-based control systems, and plant power).
• Execute preventive maintenance on production and building systems; document activities accurately and on time.
• Develop a working knowledge of Prysmian’s manufacturing environment, equipment, philosophy, procedures, and practices.
• Serve as a Medical First Responder in the Fiber Plant.
• Contribute to our pay-for-skill program and continuously advance your competencies.
• Deliver timely, high-quality, and cost-effective technical support aligned with short- and long-term operational plans.
• Maintain equipment to achieve reliability, availability, throughput, quality, and internal customer service targets.
• Partner with the Maintenance Lead and/or Maintenance Manager on proper installation/repair procedures for mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Communicate additional hand/power tools or diagnostic equipment needs to Maintenance leadership.
• Uphold safe work practices and all company policies at all times.
• Help establish and sustain optimal inventory levels of critical components.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or GED.

Plus one of the following (or equivalent experience as determined by the Maintenance Manager):

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Technology; or
• Military experience : at least 2 years with training in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Technology; or
• On-the-job training : minimum 3 years in industrial maintenance (electrical, electronics, or mechanical).

Technical capabilities:

• Work safely across low to high voltage; lay out and wire complex circuits with numerous connections; diagnose and correct control/logic issues; perform installs, repairs, and testing on virtually all production and plant systems.
• Perform light-to-heavy mechanical work, general plumbing and carpentry, and floor/tile installation and repair.
• Use hand/power tools, multimeters (volt/ohm/amp), oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic instruments proficiently.

Attributes: Strong mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude, solid work ethic, effective with minimal supervision, excellent communication, and a methodical technical problem solver.

Preferred: SAP experience; prior fiber manufacturing exposure.

Work environment

Fast-paced setting with multiple, time-sensitive priorities requiring detailed coordination across departments in a dynamic environment.

• Wear required PPE in manufacturing areas (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection as applicable).
• Occasional entry into walled containment areas and roof access; some tasks may occur in uncomfortable hot or cold conditions.
