Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and active CT licensure.

Job Details

• Work setting is a large, Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds,
• Assignment is in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU),
• Patient ratio averages 1:2 on both day and night shifts,
• Shift is nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00),
• Every other weekend is required,
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs,
• No on-call requirements,
• Charting is performed in Epic,
• Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending licensure is accepted, but application must be submitted prior to consideration (CT license takes 15-21 business days to issue),
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required within the specialty; candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience,
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS,
• Neuro ICU experience is required,
• Experience at a large Trauma Center setting is required,
• Level I Trauma experience is preferred,
• Proficiency in ICU skills including IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management,
• 1 professional reference required for consideration,
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted,
• COVID vaccination required; religious or medical exemptions are accepted,
• Candidates must not have any disciplinary actions or priors on their nursing license,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include comprehensive neuro ICU nursing care, including neurological assessment, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, CVA/stroke management, and cardiac monitoring and emergency response,
• Block scheduling is not available for this position,
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval,
• Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler,
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Pre-start and annual online modules are required (approximately 4 hours for RN) and must be completed before the assignment begins
