Job Summary

The General Laborer supports construction crews in the installation, repair, and maintenance of storm drainage, water, and sewer systems. This role involves manual labor, site preparation, and assisting equipment operators and skilled trades to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of storm drains, water mains, and sewer lines
• Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact soil using hand tools or equipment
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
• Support pipe laying, alignment, and connection activities
• Maintain job site cleanliness and organization
• Direct traffic and assist with site safety setup (cones, barricades, signage)
• Work around heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and trenchers
• Follow blueprints, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions
• Adhere to all OSHA and company safety regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned by the crew leader

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting 50+ lbs, digging, standing for long periods)
• Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices
• Reliable transportation to job sites
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in underground utility, civil, or heavy construction
• Familiarity with trench safety and shoring systems
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Experience working around heavy equipment
• Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)

Working Conditions
