Casting Operations Supervisor – Aluminum Location: Mebane, NC (Full‑Time, REMOTE) Work Type: Permanent Experience: 5 – 8 Years Compensation: USD 65,000 – 85,000 (flexible; willing to pay more for the right candidate) Job Overview The Casting Supervisor – Horizontal Continuous Casting (HCC) is responsible for end‑to‑end aluminum HCC operations, including casting, peeling, ultrasonic testing (UT), cutting, and packing. The role is hands‑on, shop‑floor focused, ensuring safe operations, stable processes, consistent quality, and on‑time delivery in a high‑volume automotive aluminum environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily horizontal continuous casting activities: metal transfer, mold/graphite tooling, cooling control, puller operation, and cut‑to‑length processes. Maintain stable casting conditions by controlling metal temperature, casting speed, cooling rates, and tooling condition. Coordinate downstream operations: peeling, UT, cutting, and packing to meet throughput and quality targets. Oversee peeling operations (depth‑of‑cut, tool condition, alignment) to optimize yield and reduce scrap. Ensure UT is performed per internal procedures and customer specifications; review UT data, identify defect trends, and drive disposition of nonconforming material. Supervise cutting operations for cut‑length accuracy, blade condition, and minimized cut loss; oversee packing for correct bundling, labeling, protection, and traceability. Maintain full heat and lot traceability through all stages: casting, inspection, cutting, and packing. Enforce safety rules related to molten metal, casting equipment, saws, UT systems, and material handling; promote a strong safety culture. Provide hands‑on support during startups, equipment downtime, staffing gaps, and process disruptions. Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve equipment and process issues rapidly. Monitor KPIs (scrap, peel yield, UT rejects, cut loss, downtime) and implement corrective and preventive actions. Train, coach, and develop operators across casting, peeling, UT, cutting, and packing processes. Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and process optimization initiatives. Required Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of aluminum horizontal continuous casting operations. Working knowledge of peeling, ultrasonic testing, cutting, and packing in metals manufacturing. Hands‑on troubleshooting capability in a foundry or industrial manufacturing environment. Strong leadership, communication, and team‑management skills. Ability to interpret process data, inspection results, and production metrics to drive decisions and improvements. Familiarity with quality systems, traceability, and customer requirements. Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Work in a hot, noisy industrial manufacturing setting around molten metal and heavy equipment. Stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stretch, squat, climb, and work around industrial machinery. Lift up to 50 lbs as required; consistent use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols.
