Maintenance Mechanic

This role is a multi-craft industrial maintenance position responsible for performing both mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to diagnose issues, complete repairs, and support preventive maintenance activities to keep machinery running efficiently and reduce production downtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on a wide range of production equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
• Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance on production machinery to minimize unexpected breakdowns.
• Support efforts to reduce downtime by responding promptly to maintenance requests and prioritizing critical repairs.
• Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, or potential failure and report findings promptly.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support accurate maintenance records.
• Collaborate with production staff to understand equipment performance issues and plan corrective actions.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on mechanical and electrical systems.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on industrial or production equipment.
• Hands-on experience performing repairs and maintenance as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of basic mechanical systems and components.
• Ability to work with hydraulic systems, including basic understanding of operation and safety considerations.
• Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for repair and maintenance work.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, maintenance procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing equipment issues.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks during the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any education related to maintenance, industrial technology, or manufacturing is a plus.
• Certifications in maintenance, industrial mechanics, electrical, or manufacturing technology are considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and practices.
• Basic understanding of industrial safety standards and safe work practices.
• Willingness to continually learn new equipment and maintenance techniques.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
