Responsibilities Serves as a special assistant and advisor to the Director, Government Services, Industrial Base Pay. Reviews suspense, requests for information, special projects; etc., coming into the Director’s office or from the Director and Deputy. Prepares staff papers to support taskings from the Director or external sources. Coordinates taskings with the supported organizations, other locations and external sources as necessary to ensure fully staffed responses, recommendations, and options. Issue instructions and interpretations related to policies and regulations to assure consistency and accuracy in supported organization operations and work products. Monitors major projects within the supported organizations, reviews policies and directives for effectiveness and timely accomplishment of such projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Human Resources will determine your qualifications for each entry grade level based on your interest and the additional following criteria. Combinations of education and experience may also be sufficient. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12 for the GS-13 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-13 Specialized Experience Is Defined As: Advising on a variety of financial policies, operating results, and procedures; conducting a variety of projects related to supporting operations. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education GS-13 Substitution of Education for Experience: Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level. Additional Information Moving expenses may be paid. As a condition of employment, you may be required to serve a 1 year probationary period during which we'll evaluate whether your continued employment advances the public interest. The evaluation will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment advances agency or governmental goals; and whether your continued employment advances the efficiency of the Federal service. At the end of the probationary period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification that your continued employment advances the public interest. Priority Placement Program (PPP) Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligible candidates will receive priority consideration at the highest grade level for which they have applied and been determined best qualified up to and including the full performance level. Pay for first time hires to the Federal Government will typically be set at step 1 salary range for their respective grade level.
