Job Title: Laser Machine Operator | Direct Placement

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to learn and operate laser cutting machinery in a clean, well-organized sheet metal fabrication environment. You will start by loading and inspecting sheet metal parts and progressively develop the skills to set up the machines and, over time, learn basic programming aspects of laser equipment.

Responsibilities

• Load sheet metal onto laser machines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Inspect sheet metal parts before and after processing to ensure quality standards.
• Learn and follow established procedures for operating laser cutting equipment.
• Assist with basic machine setup under guidance, including tooling and parameter adjustments.
• Support operation of related equipment such as press brakes, punch presses, turret presses, and fabrication machinery as needed.
• Monitor machine performance and report any issues or irregularities promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with shop standards.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use equipment and tools in a responsible manner.
• Collaborate with team members in welding, fabrication, and other areas to support production workflow.
• Progressively develop skills to perform more advanced machine setup and learn introductory programming tasks for laser operations.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to learn and safely operate laser cutting machines.
• Basic experience or familiarity with sheet metal handling and fabrication processes.
• Attention to detail when inspecting parts for quality and accuracy.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Reliability and consistency in meeting production and safety expectations.
• Physical ability to handle sheet metal and stand for extended periods in a shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with laser operation or laser cutting equipment.
• Exposure to press brake, break press, or press brake setup and operation.
• Familiarity with punch press and turret press machinery.
• Background in sheet metal fabrication or metalworking.
• Interest in learning machine setup and basic programming for laser equipment.
• Willingness to cross-train on multiple fabrication machines and processes.

Work Environment

The position is based in a wide-open, clean sheet metal fabrication shop featuring seven new break press machines and eight welding bays on one side of the facility. The shop has recently added new lighting for improved visibility and inventory shelving that extends to the ceiling to keep materials organized. You will work around laser cutting equipment, press brakes, punch presses, turret presses, and other fabrication machinery in a well-maintained, production-focused environment. The setting is typical of an industrial fabrication shop, where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing environment are expected.

This is a Permanent position based out of Green Isle, MN.

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $54080.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
