The Blue Jay Shop Assistant Manager should be a professional who is responsible for assisting the manager in the daily operations of the in-person store located at Jesuit High School and the web based online store, making sure both stores operate successfully. The duties include exhibiting exceptional customer service, a positive attitude, and assisting management with their duties to ensure Jesuit High School attains positive customer feedback and increased visibility while achieving profits. The Assistant Manager of The Blue Jay Shop reports directly to The Blue Jay Shop Manager.

Responsibilities

· Assist in organizing store operations

· Greet and interact positively with customers to maintain high customer satisfaction

· Assist customers with merchandise selections while suggesting options suitable for customer needs

· Collect payments from customers, process returns and exchanges

· Train, supervise, and guide sales personnel towards maximum performance

· Process new merchandise and restock merchandise as needed

· Monitor stock levels and help manage purchases to ensure the store stays within its financial budget

· Assist in the design and lay-out of merchandise in the physical store

· Along with the manager, design and maintain the online website

· Assist the store manager to determine retail pricing for all merchandise

· Assist the store manager with unsold merchandise to determine sale offerings

· Help select new vendors and maintain relationships with current vendors

· Help in the planning and managing of in-store promotional events

· Conduct inventory counts as needed

· Clean and tidy the physical store and storage areas as needed

Requirements and skills

· Proven experience in retail sales assistant management or in other managerial positions

· Knowledge of retail management best practices

· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal abilities

· Ability to anticipate customer needs

· Availability during regularly scheduled store hours and for after-hour special events

· Ability to analyze retail budgets

· Ability to learn and operate the point-of-sale systems

· Ability to lift 20 pounds

· Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time

Preferred

· College degree

· At least 2 years of experience in retail management
