Pediatric Echocardiographer The Pediatric Echocardiographer is responsible for performing transthoracic echocardiograms on neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults. The role also includes fetal and stress echocardiograms. Responsibilities Performs echocardiograms according to established protocol including 2‑D, M‑Mode, tissue Doppler, strain imaging, color flow, and Doppler on patients of all ages. Performs fetal and stress echocardiograms. Obtains patient history and performs procedures as ordered. Independently performs studies and provides timely preliminary reports in Syngo Dynamics. Obtains image and Doppler information required to define complex congenital heart defects in patients referred for evaluation of non‑corrected anatomy and function and/or evaluation of surgical reconstruction, repair, or placement of prosthetic devices. Performs a variety of cardiac examinations utilizing various types of equipment to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical and pathological data for diagnosis. Ensures all studies are transferred, reviewed, and meet quality standards in Syngo Dynamics for physician interpretation. Notifies pediatric cardiologist in cases of acute or life‑threatening abnormalities. Demonstrates working knowledge of Echo PACS, computer systems, and the hospital information system. Copies studies onto CD as requested. Maintains examination rooms and supplies, monitors inventory, reports and orders supplies as needed. Calibrates, cleans, and maintains equipment; reports breakdowns and coordinates repair/maintenance with manager or Echo Lab Director. Follows departmental policy and procedures and protects patient privacy and confidentiality. Demonstrates AIDET and service recovery principles and adheres to HUMC code of conduct and ASE standards. Participates in performance initiatives, prepares studies for QA and echo conference. Adapts care to meet patient and family needs, considering age, culture, language, literacy. Follows safety rules, reports accidents promptly and corrects hazards. Attends ≥85 % of departmental staff meetings. Performs other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of a certified cardiovascular technology school and/or graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program with a specialty in cardiac sonography. One year of clinical echocardiography experience. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, including congenital heart defects pre‑ and post‑surgery. Knowledge of fetal anatomy, physiology, and circulation. Professional appearance and demeanor. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Completed at least 15 hours of echocardiography‑related continuing education in the last three years. Preferred One year of pediatric and/or fetal echocardiography experience. Certification in pediatric echocardiography. Experience working with children and families. Knowledge of familial diseases, especially hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Licenses & Certifications Required Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certification or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certification or ARDMS Certification. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Benefits & Compensation Starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Pay reviews may be based on market data, experience, education, and internal equity. Minimum hourly rate is $39.67.
