Direct Support Professional II

Overview Pay: $20.50/hr (additional $1/hr differential for active MAP certification) Support Advocate is a direct support professional (DSP) position. They act as a caregiver for individuals with an intellectual disability, developmental disability, or an acquired brain injury (ABI/TBI). Customer service skills, administrative skills, and compassion for others are essential traits. Vacation Cash-Out Option. 3 Paid Personal Days 11 Paid Holidays Accrued Paid Sick Time Responsibilities Position Snapshot: Some of the duties of a Support Advocate include the following depending on the abilities of those residing in the home and the needs of the program. Support Advocates are responsible for the provision of day‑to‑day services to our program participants, assisting and/or teaching individuals varying levels of personal care such as bathing, toileting, teeth brushing, etc. They also aid with household maintenance, meal prep and/or shopping, and accompany individuals on appointments. They administer medications or support self‑medication according to residential guidelines, and follow routines including Behavior Support Plans, personal care, Physical Therapy, etc. Support Advocates receive paid New Employee Orientation and training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP). Additional program‑specific training is provided at the work site. Qualifications Education & Experience: 18+ years old High school diploma, GED, or HiSET required. 1-3 years of related experience preferred. Valid Driver’s License & Good Driving Record CPR/First Aid and MAP certification required (paid training provided if needed).
