Title: Legal Management Services Attorney Location: Onsite in Virginia Beach, VA & must be able to make court appearances in the Virginia Beach Area Duration: Fulltime Compensation: Base salary range: $70K-$100K, plus up to $2K per month in commissions. The $90K-$100K range is reserved for senior attorneys only. Candidates with 3+ years of creditors’ rights experience may be considered above $100K, though we aim to keep the total under $120K. For context, we’re looking for someone who can take on adverse claims or potentially a lead role. This would not involve people management, but would include team reporting and process leadership. Work Authorization: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US without sponsorship, either now or in the future Position Summary A Legal Management Services Attorney plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing a high-volume civil litigation docket, primarily focusing on consumer debt collection cases. The firm specializes in legal recoveries for financial institutions across the Virginia Beach area. The Legal Management Services Attorney specializes in legal recoveries and debt collection services for national banks and creditors, focusing on areas such as credit cards, auto loans, student loans, and judgment enforcement. Key Responsibilities Court Representation : Attend hearings and trials throughout the VA Beach area; represent clients in civil collection matters. Case Management : Review and update case files, manage litigation calendars, and ensure timely progression of cases through the legal system. Negotiations : Engage in negotiations to resolve pending litigation efficiently, aiming for favorable outcomes for clients. Document Preparation and Signing : Prepare legal documents and pleadings, and execute necessary filings to support case advancement. Compliance and Oversight : Ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards, and oversee the management of exceptions and queues within the litigation process. Qualifications Education and Licensing : A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in VA. Experience : While one year of civil litigation experience is preferred, the firm offers opportunities for attorneys to gain experience in this area. Skills : Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, strong negotiation abilities, and experience in supervising legal processes are advantageous. Work Environment My client offers a hybrid working arrangement with no billable hour requirements, providing flexibility for attorneys. The position is also commission-eligible, offering additional earning potential based on performance.
