Primary City/State: Gilbert, Arizona Department Name: Thrpy-Acute-Hosp Work Shift: Day Job Category: Clinical Care As the Occupational Therapist, you will bring your experience and passion for health care to our Acute Care, Rehab team, working in all areas of the hospital including Med‑Surg, Oncology, Stem‑cell, ICU, PCU, ED and Observation. You will be an active change agent dedicated to the needs of our patients and families. You will work 4 10‑hour shifts per week with required weekend and holiday coverage. Oncology and acute care hospital experience is preferred. Position Summary This position is responsible for the evaluation, planning, administration, and supervision of Occupational Therapy treatment in accordance with physician referral, state and local organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. This position demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served. Core Functions Evaluates patients' functional abilities and limitations, determines if intervention is needed, establishes a plan of care and treatment goals, completes a comprehensive evaluation within the established timeframe, identifies and prioritizes key limiting factors, collaborates with patient and family/caregiver when setting goals, initiates discharge planning, and recommends additions or modifications to referring orders. Implements individualized treatment plans considering patients' physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age‑specific needs; provides skilled treatment safely; assesses ongoing effectiveness of treatment and modifies the plan of care as indicated; involves patients and families in decision making; provides ongoing education to physicians, nurses, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Documents consistently according to department and regulatory standards, completing documentation within established timeframes, and reflects comprehensive assessment of patients' progress or lack thereof. Communicates pertinent patient information to ensure follow‑through of care, including evaluation/results and progress to physicians, nurses, patients, families, coworkers, and the interdisciplinary team; contacts physicians for routine or difficult problem‑solving when needed. Exhibits adaptability in assignments related to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts; takes initiative to assist in other patient care areas and accepts responsibility for all patient care needs. Demonstrates appropriate direction and delegation of personnel to achieve safe delivery of quality, cost‑effective patient care; ensures competency of personnel prior to delegation. Participates in department/facility process improvements and meets productivity standards set by the department. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers, and agencies concerning patient care; also interacts with physician offices to report, require, or clarify information. Minimum Qualifications Successfully completed the academic requirements of an occupational therapy program approved by the appropriate governing board. Current Occupational Therapy license from the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Demonstrated clinical competency, experience, training, and education required to perform the job. Proficiency with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient‑care environment. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
