Overview

The Operations Manager II is responsible for establishing and executing company strategy related to domestic and international freight movements through an understanding of industry trends and best practices. Recruit, develop and motivate staff to provide a world class customer experience and meet or exceed client expectations. Insure the station has the necessary tools in place to succeed and expand their business levels in international products lines in a sustained fashion. Work with current and prospective logistics services providers and internal AIT functional departments to develop the best overall strategy. Execution of those strategies includes establishing, measuring and managing to applicable metrics with service providers, vendors and internal AIT functions to ensure timely and efficient flow of product for AIT. This job is 100% in-site in the office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the station's operations strategy of AIT for enhancing the customer experience and maximize station performance.
• Ensure processes and metrics are in place to ensure growth, service and profitability goals are accomplished with the operations environment as well as other station departments.
• Manage and communicate with AIT's carriers insuring best value and service vs objectives.
• Ensures providers meet and adhere to their service commitments and agreed terms of service.
• Exhibits strong negotiating skills and execution in service provider Agreements including ad hoc and spot rates.
• Ability to track performance and develop strategic processes and proactively improve efficiencies and reduce lead time lanes.
• Provides coaching and mentoring employees in a broad global environment.
• Continue to build rapport with clients and work to develop new opportunities and create and manage key visual tools and tracking processes.
• Actively support key account operations requirements and insure service execution and reliability.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor's Degree Logistics or related degree (preferred)


Experience
• 7+ years International freight forwarding, airfreight and ocean freight with P&L experience (preferred)


• 3+ years Operations supervisory experience and managing a team (required)


• 1+ years Previous experience in a diversified freight forwarding industry (required)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Procurement skills; Operational and P&L management of global products and services in a high performance organization.


• Excellent organization and time management skills.


• Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate to employees, manager and upper management levels.
