Sr. Utilities Technician - Waste Water

About the role The Utilities Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment that supports utilities, including high‑pressure steam boilers, chillers, heating/cooling air handling units, process wastewater treatment systems, water purification systems, tank mixers, air compressors and dryers, and chilled water distribution systems. The technician performs corrective maintenance and routine preventive maintenance on plant utilities equipment following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP documentation practices. The role includes completing work orders, logs, and forms, and requires adherence to cGMP standards and corporate safety policies. This senior position performs daily checks and maintenance on facility equipment and systems while following all regulatory guidelines. The position works a day shift, 6:00am – 6:30pm, in a 2‑2‑3 work schedule configuration. How will you contribute Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of all associated equipment. Operate and maintain equipment through routine inspection and review. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and company policies. Read, understand, and follow related SOPs and job/work plans. Maintain accurate forms and work order documentation. Respond to calls and conduct repairs throughout the facility. Escort contractors performing work on the premises as assigned. Support the start‑up of new equipment to ensure it meets mechanical design specifications. Develop proficiency in three or more advanced maintenance technologies (alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, or vibration monitoring) and apply them to improve equipment reliability. Follow safety rules and ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulations and laws. Collect and analyze daily wastewater treatment plant data and perform chemical/parameter adjustments as needed. Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately. Respond to urgent and emergency work orders for the utilities department. Close assigned work orders in the CMMS (JDE, Maximo, SAP). Attend instructor‑lead training and planned team meetings. Demonstrate continuous progress in job knowledge and technical proficiency. Order and maintain chemical inventory and keep designated area 5S'd. Teach basic activities and work execution to other technicians. Maintain a positive, professional, and customer‑oriented attitude. What you bring to Takeda High school diploma or GED plus 8+ years of related industrial experience. Pharmaceutical, utilities, and/or WWTP experience preferred. Two‑year certificate in HVAC, building trades, or building utilities program, or equivalent military experience preferred. 5–6 years of experience in the maintenance trades preferred. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and wiring schematics. Good customer service skills and promotion of a teamwork environment. GA Industrial Wastewater Operator license or higher (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment). Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Familiarity with CMMS, SAP, JDE, and Maximo. Understanding of cGMPs and other regulatory guidelines in the medical/pharmaceutical industry. Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of utility systems including DAF, centrifuge, aeration basins, blowers, pumps, and others. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SCADA, process control software, and other computer‑based applications. Important Considerations Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and protective clothing. Must remove all makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment. Work may involve cold, wet, and high‑noise areas. May be exposed to sunlight, heat, dust, gases, and fumes. Activities require frequent standing, walking, and inspection of large tanks. Requirements for hearing protection and additional protective equipment where needed. 90‑minute shift changes on a 2/2/3 rotation; 12‑hour shifts may be required. Overtime may be required at times. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds when managing chemicals. No travel is expected. Compensation and Benefits Summary Location: USA – GA – Social Circle – Hwy278 Hourly Wage Range: $27.55 – $43.26 (actual wage depends on qualifications, experience, and location).
