Project Manager – Commercial/Public Construction

Full-Time | Massachusetts Public Projects | General Contractor

A well-established General Contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple public construction projects throughout Massachusetts. This role is responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through closeout, while coordinating with owners, design teams, subcontractors, superintendents, and internal project teams.

The ideal candidate has strong experience managing commercial construction projects, understands Massachusetts public construction requirements, and can successfully manage multiple projects at one time.

Responsibilities

• Manage 2–4 construction projects at a time, depending on project size and complexity
• Lead pre-construction meetings and site visits with owners, clients, and project teams
• Develop project work plans, schedules, deadlines, and overall execution strategy
• Manage and mentor project-level team members, including Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Construction Administration staff
• Oversee submittals, procurement tracking, and approvals to help avoid project delays
• Manage change orders, RFIs, subcontractor changes, supplier changes, and client/design team approvals
• Coordinate subcontractor agreements, project documentation, scheduling, purchasing, and invoicing
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, owners, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, quality, safety, and overall project performance
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of construction project management experience
• Experience with Massachusetts Public Construction / DCAMM projects strongly preferred
• Background in commercial construction, pre-construction planning, and basic estimating helpful
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong client relationship and subcontractor management skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering quality work
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Procore
• OSHA 10 required

Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Work Environment

• This role is a mix of office and field work. The Project Manager should expect to spend approximately 60% of their time in the office and 40% visiting active job sites , depending on project needs.
