Shipping Department Manager

Job Description

CDR General Services is seeking a Department Manager to join our team in Port Allen, LA. The ideal candidate for this position will be a strong bilingual leader with a proven ability to manage personnel, enforce policies, improve processes, and drive productivity in a fast-paced work environment. Job Details

Job Location: Port Allen
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $25.00+ per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Sunday

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of 10–12 employees
Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, and productivity standards
Coach, train, and develop team members on processes and performance expectations
Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary issues, including documenting and issuing corrective actions when necessary
Monitor daily operations to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement effective solutions
Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment
Communicate effectively with management and staff to ensure operational goals are achieved
Assist with scheduling, staffing, and workflow management
Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong leadership

Qualifications

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
Previous supervisory or management experience required
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable
Strong conflict resolution and personnel management skills
Experience with employee coaching, training, and disciplinary processes
Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity standards
Ability to effectively lead and support a diverse workforce
