Electric Line Technician III

*Salary Grade SG 308* $63,050.00 - $78,746.00 – Salary determined based on directly related experience Electric Line Technician III – Electric Department Perform advanced provision of underground and overhead line installation, maintenance and repair, including transformer installation, service line work, fault detection, switching, and emergency response. Work in both energized and de-energized environments and support the electric crew in all line operations. Responsibilities Lead installation, alignment, and maintenance of power line poles, primary and secondary lines, and components. Construct, repair, and support underground electrical systems, including cables and transformers. Operate buckets, line trucks, trenchers, excavators, and other heavy equipment. Perform energized line taps, connections, and independent handling of energized systems. Install transformers, fuse cutouts, disconnects, and metering equipment. Climb poles, trim trees, and support substation maintenance and circuit switching. Troubleshoot power outages and lead emergency repair operations. Assist the public with information and problem‑solving. Maintain and service line trucks and related equipment. Provide training and safety oversight to Technician I and II workers. Lead crew safety and compliance with all procedures. Qualifications Thorough knowledge of trucks and equipment for line work. Knowledge of power line construction tools, materials, and methods. Understanding of hazards and safety precautions for line work. Knowledge of electrical principles, functions, and troubleshooting. Application of information technology to line work. Truck and equipment operation and material logistics skills. Strong customer contact and conflict-resolution skills. Willingness to work on high-voltage lines with proper precautions. Ability to troubleshoot and repair during power outages. Proficiency with power line tools and equipment. Clear understanding of written and oral instructions. Effective oral and written communication. Ability to build relationships with the public, employees, and supervisors. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED, Class A CDL Journeyman Certification required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
