Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a Financial Services organization in El Monte, California. This Long-term Contract position will support core accounting operations, regulatory reporting, and reconciliation activities while partnering closely with the broader accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical skills, and prior experience working in a banking or regulated financial environment.Responsibilities:• Manage a range of day-to-day accounting activities, providing analytical and operational support across the accounting function.• Prepare required property-related filings such as the annual Form 571-L for multiple branches and departments.• Compile and assist with recurring regulatory submissions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, including reports such as the Local Agency Deposit Report, FR-2900, FR-2644, and FR-2420.• Perform monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts and help maintain accuracy across balance sheet records.• Support period-end close activities by preparing accruals and journal entries related to advances, brokered certificates of deposit, and investment activity.• Record and monitor brokered CD transactions, including settlements, maturities, and other associated accounting entries.• Process daily excess funds activity, review employee expense reimbursements through Concur, and resolve rejected or non-posted transactions.• Coordinate components of the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, including gathering support from departments and validating balances against documentation.• Partner with internal and external auditors by assembling requested schedules, records, and supporting documentation.• Contribute to ad hoc reporting, special projects, and collateral pledging activities for local agencies and letters of credit as needed.
