The remainder of the day is dedicated to life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record sets the example: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty. Your role is not instructional. The AI manages academic content delivery. Your focus is motivating, coaching, and holding students to the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and define ambitious objectives. Another forty percent involves facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement alone. The final twenty percent is devoted to morning kickoffs that set a daily tone where mediocrity has no place. The trajectory here is mastery, not advancement into management. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning students' trust. Within months, you become the person they rely on to push them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff isn't a title change. What You Will Be Doing Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for execution Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on credible narratives from your own high-level experience, then evaluating mastery via Alpha's Test2Pass framework Establishing the campus culture each morning through deliberate kickoffs that reinforce expectations for high performance Monitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on evidence, not intuition Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and their families through unwavering standards, reliability, and documented motivation strategies What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-powered academic system manages instruction; you manage motivation Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your work is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction) Supervising other personnel or advancing through administrative ranks (this role centers on direct student influence, not organizational progression) Attending staff meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy (your time remains student-centered) Compromising standards to satisfy metrics (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to identify what prevented 100%) Student Excellence Coach Key Responsibilities Lead outstanding student motivation, development, and life-skill mastery at Alpha's most demanding campuses. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree At least one documented instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized field (examples: national or international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture) At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership positions where you demonstrably elevated others' performance Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Orange County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; South Bay, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Kirkland (Seattle), WA (relocation support provided) Legal right to work in the United States Nice-to-have Requirements Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with experience coaching or mentoring younger athletes Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps) Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition Working with us This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
