Description:
The ideal candidate is a board-certified gastroenterologist.
They should have solid outpatient experience managing common gastrointestinal issues.
Candidates must be comfortable evaluating abdominal complaints and chronic gastrointestinal diseases.
The ability to review basic gastrointestinal diagnostics is essential.
As no procedures are performed on-site, strong clinic-based consult skills are necessary.
The candidate must be able to work independently in a correctional setting.
The role involves running on-site GI clinics within correctional facilities.
The gastroenterologist will see new consults as well as follow-ups.
Duties include assessing gastrointestinal symptoms and managing chronic conditions.
The gastroenterologist will review outside imaging or endoscopy reports.
Adjusting medications and advising staff on triage and referral needs for off-site procedures are also required.
All care is outpatient and non-procedural within the clinic space.
The position involves a commitment of two days per week for at least six months.
There is a backlog of patients that need to be seen.
Experience with electronic medical records systems, specifically Epic, is preferred.
Support staff, including nurses, will be available.
The expected patient load is approximately ten patients per day.
Float requirements are not applicable for this position.
