We believe the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally. **Distinctive benefits for Great Hearts faculty:*** Exceptional Benefits (medical, dental, vision etc.) with minimal employee cost* Texas Retirement System* Uniquely valuable professional development offerings, from great books seminars with academy colleagues, to leadership and special education coursework/pathways, to reduced tuition graduate degree support with select partner universities**About the K-5 Teacher Role:*** As a Homeroom Teacher you provide a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning.* Curricular elements include Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, as well as rich content in History, Science, and Literature.* As a Homeroom Teacher you enjoy the support of an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in your classroom.**Roles and Responsibilities:*** Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.* Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.* Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.* Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.* Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.**Required/Preferred Education:*** Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role* Certification is not required for general education* All majors are welcome**US Work Authorization is required.****Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.****Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.****This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions.
