Packaging Associate prepares finished goods for shipment by operating, monitoring, and maintaining packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and shut down automated or semi-automated packaging machinery.
- Quality Control: Inspect products and packaging for defects, ensuring items meet quality standards and specifications.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Packaging & Labeling: Load raw materials (e.g., film, labels, cartons) and verify labels, lot numbers, and shipping information.
- Documentation: Record production data, maintenance activities, and inventory counts.
- Safety & Sanitation: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace complying with OSHA and company safety protocols.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is often required.
- Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude for operating and adjusting machinery.
- Physical Ability: Capability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift materials, often including, but not limited to, 20--50lbs.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on safety and accuracy.
Preferred Skills
- Forklift certification or experience.
- Experience with specific packaging machinery (e.g., conveyors, labelers).
- Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in pharmaceutical or food industries.
