Job Title: Shipping Supervisor Job Description

The Shipping Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate selection and dispatch of materials or finished goods. This position requires verifying product details such as descriptions, quantities, lot numbers, and locations during the picking process. You will be responsible for staging items for packing, shipping, or production, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the picking and storage areas in line with GMP and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Accurately pick materials or finished goods according to pick lists, work orders, or system instructions.

• Verify product descriptions, quantities, lot numbers, and locations during picking.

• Stage picked items for packing, shipping, or production.

• Use handheld scanners, inventory systems, or manual documentation.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of picking and storage areas in accordance with GMP and safety standards.

• Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged items, or quality concerns.

• Follow all safety rules and maintain an accident-free work record.

• Comply with SQF, GMP, safety, and company policies.

• Work overtime as needed to meet business and shipping demands.

• Take direction from Warehouse Lead, Production Lead, or Supervisor.

• Support company performance goals and departmental accuracy and productivity targets.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Experience with inventory, shipping supervision, and shipping and receiving.

• Forklift or pallet jack experience.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with strong attention to detail.

• Basic math and counting skills.

• Ability to work independently with supervision.

• Effective verbal communication skills.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• English speaking and reading fluency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

• Prior warehouse, material handling, or manufacturing experience preferred (training provided).

• Ability to safely use basic packing tools and equipment after training.

Work Environment

The work environment involves regular standing for extended periods and frequent use of hands and fingers to handle materials, containers, tools, and controls. Employees will engage in frequent walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing during an 8-12-hour shift. The role requires handling aromatic chemicals, solvents, oils, or mixtures, with necessary PPE including eye protection, gloves, uniforms, and safety shoes. The shift runs from 6am to 4:45pm, with a moderate noise level typical of active industrial work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Carteret, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
