Senior Auditor

Location: Union, NJ (Onsite)

About the Opportunity

A growing public accounting firm is seeking a Senior Auditor to join its audit practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead audit engagements from planning through issuance while working with a diverse client base across nonprofit organizations, government entities, privately held businesses, and other regulated industries. The ideal candidate enjoys client interaction, takes ownership of engagements, and thrives in a collaborative environment where they can make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

• Lead financial statement audits from planning and risk assessment through fieldwork and final reporting.
• Manage multiple audit engagements while maintaining budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
• Prepare and review financial statements, audit reports, management letters, and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate internal controls and identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and compliance.
• Perform testing related to grants, compliance requirements, and other regulatory matters when applicable.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the audit process.
• Work closely with firm leadership to resolve technical accounting and auditing matters.
• Assist with special projects, agreed-upon procedures, internal control reviews, and consulting engagements.
• Review staff work, provide mentorship, and contribute to the development of junior team members.
• Stay current on accounting, auditing, and regulatory standards to ensure high-quality client service.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CPA or progress toward certification is preferred.
• 3+ years of public accounting audit experience.
• Experience leading engagements and managing client relationships.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and auditing best practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with audit software and Microsoft Excel.
