Job Description

This role focuses on manufacturing high-quality conveyor systems that keep consumer packaged goods moving efficiently, reliably, and safely. You will assemble mechanical components using detailed instructions, drawings, and specifications while ensuring each conveyor section meets strict quality and measurement standards. The position offers hands-on work with tools and machinery in a clean, climate-controlled environment, with opportunities to grow and cross-train in other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work by carefully reviewing assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists to understand each build requirement.
  • Gather and organize all required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials before assembly tasks.
  • Position parts and subassemblies accurately by following assembly instructions, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Assemble conveyor components by mechanically fastening parts and subassemblies using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Verify that completed conveyor sections meet specifications by measuring dimensions and checking alignment and fit.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures on equipment and tools to keep them in safe and reliable working condition.
  • Follow established rules, procedures, and safety guidelines while working on the production floor.
  • Use tape measures and other measuring tools to ensure accurate cuts, placements, and assemblies.
  • Support general labor and production tasks as needed to maintain workflow and meet production schedules.
  • Retain and apply standard assembly and disassembly procedures to perform work consistently and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly issues and improve processes when necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how mechanical components fit and function together.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately for precise measurements.
  • Experience using hand tools such as ratchets, wrenches, and other common mechanical tools.
  • Experience using battery-operated and pneumatic tools for assembly work.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to retain information related to standard assembly and disassembly procedures and apply it consistently.
  • Prior experience in mechanical assembly or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work 1st shift (typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and occasional overtime as needed.
  • Comfort working in a production environment with power tools and general labor tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting mechanical blueprints and schematics is preferred.
  • Prior experience assembling conveyor systems or similar industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other departments to expand skills and support production needs.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure assemblies meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Reliability and consistency in attendance and work habits.

Work Environment

The role operates on a 1st shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime during the week as needed and no weekend work. The facility is a climate-controlled shop that is clean, well lit, and designed for comfort and safety. Approximately 80 to 90 full-time employees work in the facility, creating a collaborative production environment. The workspace includes a fully finished break room with vending machines for employee use. Employees use a variety of hand tools, power tools, battery-operated tools, and pneumatic tools as part of daily work, along with tape measures and other measuring equipment. Safety is supported through reimbursement for safety shoes and safety glasses, reinforcing adherence to protective gear guidelines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.30 - $23.30/hr.
