Medical Office Associate I - Radiology @ Union Campus - Per Diem

Job Description

Responsible for general reception, registration, billing, and Customer Service.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Greets department visitors courteously, follows scripting protocol set forth by department. Answers questions, provides information as requested and directs customers appropriately.
2. Answers the telephone in a courteous manner following department script and AHS standards. Communicates effectively with all internal/external customers.
3. Demonstrates consistent customer service excellence and acts as a liaison to patient and families. Uses service recovery where appropriate.
4. Distributes proper history forms to patients prior to procedure. Prepare paperwork and educational materials for the distribution of contrast media to outpatients; directs questions to appropriate clinical staff.
5. Able to access, interpret and communicate information for all age-appropriate care.
6. Ability to register patients in EPIC according to AHS standards. Keeps patient information confidential. Interview patient/family member to accurately obtain all required demographic information for computer entry. Scan insurance and identification card as required. Obtain signatures for financial responsibility, Charity Care eligibility, and consent for treatment etc.
7. Verifies insurance is active and proper authorization is obtained prior to registration. Ensure patient is informed regarding Notice of Privacy, consent to treat and billing.
8. Able to operate the following equipment: photocopier, fax, CD burner, printers, telephone, paging systems, and CYRACOM language services.
9. Communicates daily with pre-cert department on outstanding appointments for next day. Ensures patients are notified before they present for exam if pre-certification has not been obtained. Aids in authorization process as needed.
10. Treat fellow employees in a respectful professional manner. Ensure open communication between peers. Maintains open communication with supervisors. Provides feedback and suggestions for improvement. Contributes to the team and works cooperatively with peers. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize. Seeks pro-active solutions to address questions concerns.
11. And all other task and/or duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Individual must be customer focused, must have demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred:

• Prior administrative experience in an Imaging facility preferred.
• Prior Epic experience.

Atlantic Health System's radiology departments provide state-of-the-art imaging services that can accommodate a wide range of patient needs with the highest quality and safety. In fact, many of our locations meet image gently recommendations, meaning we "child-size" radiation doses for pediatric patients. Our medical team features board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists, who specialize in breast imaging, cross-sectional imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, muscular-skeletal imaging, pediatric imaging, and interventional radiology. Highly skilled technologists and registered radiology nurses provide additional expertise and support. Atlantic Health System has radiology services at Chilton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton and Overlook medical centers, along with Goryeb Children's Hospital and a variety of outpatient locations.
