Asphalt Plant Operator

Asphalt Plant Operator/Maintenance (Materials)Perform a combination of duties involving general maintenance/operation of an asphalt plant. Majority of work is outside in all weather conditions.Compensation $32.00 - $42.00 per hour.Responsibilities:Learn to operate a dual-use, continuous-batch asphalt plantComplete daily service requirements of the asphalt plant for preventative maintenance issuesFabricate and repair hoppers and conveyorsTroubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delaysRepair conveyor systems, i.e. bearing replacement, drive systems, change screen cloths, structural fabricationGeneral maintenance of various pumps and electrical requirements and wear prevention of equipmentOperate mobile equipment including heavy haul trucks, front-end loaders, and track dozersGeneral labor duties such as shoveling and sweepingOther duties as assigned by managementEducation:High School Diploma/GEDRequirements/Qualifications:Ability to work under pressureAvailable for overtime work, extended hours, night work, and weekend work as required for timely project completionWork with minimal supervisionAbility to lift 95 lbs. infrequently, 50 lbs. frequently, and climb ladders/stairs up to 24'Ability to use various electric and air-powered hand, welding, and cutting toolsPreferred: 4+ years' experience in asphalt plant operationsWorking knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment and understanding of operations and safety requirements for the equipmentExperience in welding and fabricationExperience with electrical troubleshootingUnderstanding of the type and quality of material being producedFamiliar with MSHA regulations and annual trainingConditions of Employment:Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
