Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed. The Senior Staff Power Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:Design, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects. Participate in project planning and scheduling.Global SME with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition. Provides technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)Reviews and interprets customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.Lead the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinate global deployment efforts.May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulationsSolve complex problemsLiaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.Analyse and interpret data and informationRecommend modifications for systemsCreate reports and documentationMay be a recognised expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.Knowledge/Skills/CompetenciesRefer to technical skills belowConsidered a Subject Matter Expert in the area of power designDeep knowledge of DC/DC power topologies and tradeoffsExperienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage productsExperienced in high current, high-phase count designs for ASICs and GPUsExperienced in PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradientsFamiliarity with schematic capture and CAD layout toolsProficient with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICEKnowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power DeliveryExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to present to various audiences effectivelyPhysical DemandsDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
