School Administrator (Secondary School)

The Secondary School Administrator serves as a key instructional and operational leader, supporting the Superintendent in overseeing the day-to-day management of the secondary school program. The Administrator is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment while ensuring compliance with the school’s charter, Board policies, New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations, and all applicable federal and state laws. The Secondary School Administrator works collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, families, and community partners to advance the school’s mission and strategic goals. This position supervises instructional and support staff, monitors school operations, supports student achievement and school culture, and performs additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Support the implementation of the school's vision, mission, and academic goals for students in Secondary School. Conduct regular classroom visits and formal/informal observations to promote effective teaching and learning. Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and support to teachers and instructional staff. Assist in the development and implementation of professional learning opportunities aligned with school improvement goals. Promote high academic expectations and a culture of continuous improvement. School Operations and Compliance Oversee daily school operations to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive educational environment. Ensure compliance with the school’s approved charter, Board policies, NYSED regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide procedures, policies, and safety protocols. Coordinate and support state testing, reporting requirements, and other regulatory obligations. Student and Family Engagement Foster positive relationships among students, families, staff, and the broader community. Promote a positive school culture that supports the physical, social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. Address student discipline and behavioral concerns in accordance with school policies and restorative practices. Work to strengthen the partnership between home, school, and community to support student success. Staff Supervision and Development Supervise and evaluate assigned instructional and non-instructional staff. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of highly qualified faculty and staff. Encourage collaboration, innovation, and professional growth among team members. Support the implementation of staff evaluation systems and professional development plans. School Climate and Community Building Foster a caring, inclusive, and growth-oriented school environment where all students and staff feel valued and respected. Support initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and cultural responsiveness. Build collaborative partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders that enhance educational opportunities for students. Knowledge and Understanding The Secondary School Administrator will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: The mission and vision of Evergreen Charter School and its commitment to nurturing the academic, social, emotional, physical, and moral development of every student. Effective instructional leadership practices that promote high expectations and student achievement. Methods for supporting and evaluating effective teaching and learning. Strategies for building strong relationships among school, family, and community stakeholders. School improvement planning and the integration of teacher evaluation, coaching, and professional development. Qualifications and Competencies Master’s Degree required. New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certification preferred or ability to obtain certification. Minimum of three (3) years of successful educational leadership experience preferred. Bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse school community. Strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school operations. Culturally responsive and committed to equity and inclusion. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.
