Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/ED LPN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a rural critical access hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS certification (license required if applicable).

Details

• Acute care setting in a 25-bed rural Critical Access Hospital, Med Surg/ED unit
• Patient population primarily geriatric, including general rehab post-surgery
• Team assignment model with 2 RNs on at all times, supported by Nurse Aides/CNAs on each shift
• Charge nurse present on each shift, functioning as part of team assignment rather than individual patient assignment
• Telemonitor capacity available on unit, no dedicated tele/monitor techs
• RT equipment limited to patient-managed CPAP only
• EPIC EMR used
• 12-hour night shifts on an every-other-weekend rotation with alternating holiday requirement
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
• No call or standby requirement
• No floating required; LPN remains on Med Surg floor unless voluntarily floating with appropriate experience

Requirements

• ND state license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• ER experience preferred
• Understanding of dementia care, stroke care, and geriatric skin care preferred
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a team nursing model on a combined Med Surg/ED unit
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, covering one department only
• Scrubs provided; no specific color required
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Candidates previously employed directly (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; those employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered
