Job Summary

We are seeking a Privacy Compliance Specialist for a contract opportunity in Rosemead, CA within the energy and utilities industry. This role is ideal for a privacy professional with strong legal, compliance, and contract negotiation experience who can provide practical guidance on data privacy obligations in a complex corporate environment.

The Privacy Compliance Specialist will support internal teams by interpreting privacy laws and regulations, negotiating privacy-related contract language, investigating potential data exposure incidents, and strengthening privacy compliance controls. This opportunity offers exposure to cross-functional legal, compliance, technology, procurement, and business teams in a stable, highly regulated industry where privacy, governance, and risk management are business-critical priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide privacy compliance guidance, consultations, and practical recommendations to internal business and functional teams.
- Negotiate privacy-related contract terms with suppliers and support data-sharing agreement reviews.
- Investigate potential data loss incidents involving unauthorized exposure of personal information.
- Review privacy statutes, laws, regulations, and legal citations to support compliance requirements.
- Develop, review, and update privacy compliance controls, documentation, and program materials.
- Support ongoing improvements to the Privacy Compliance Program through process, control, and documentation enhancements.

Compensation and Benefits

- Contract/Temporary opportunity.
- Location: Rosemead, CA.
- Salary Range: $187,000 to $214,240 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Provide privacy compliance consultations and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate privacy contract terms with suppliers and support data-sharing agreements.
- Investigate potential privacy incidents involving personal information exposure.
- Develop and update privacy compliance controls, documentation, and program materials.

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years of professional work experience, including at least 2 years in privacy law or privacy compliance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of privacy compliance requirements, controls, and program practices.
- Experience reviewing privacy laws, statutes, regulations, and legal citations.
- Ability to negotiate privacy-related contract terms and data-sharing agreements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with legal and compliance documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good listening skills with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively.
- Adaptable, inquisitive, and comfortable working with ambiguity.
- Interest in new technology and its impact on privacy compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience working in a large corporate environment with a traditional vertical organizational structure.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry such as energy, utilities, legal, compliance, financial services, healthcare, or technology.
- Experience partnering with legal, procurement, information security, compliance, and business teams on privacy matters.
