Assistant Project Manager

Tilcon Connecticut Inc., a CRH company, is a leading supplier of quality crushed stone, hot mix asphalt, and ready mix concrete, supporting the construction of roads, buildings, and bridges throughout Connecticut. This role will be located at our New Britain, CT office and will support initiatives in and around the State of Connecticut. The candidate will report to the Construction Manager. Principal Accountabilities Assist the Project Superintendent(s) & Project Manager(s) in planning, coordinating and tracking construction activities including crew and equipment. Manage/Support milling, paving and construction projects to completion. Manage/Support pre-bid, estimating and pre-construction phases of milling, paving and construction projects. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for construction projects by implementing the Company’s Health and Safety Plan. Maintain and manage plans, specifications, cost, material estimates, subcontract and related reports. Project document control and submission. Assist Scheduler and Superintendent with two-week lookahead and CPM schedule. Maintain daily log, tracking all payable quantities. Coordinate proper procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of purchase orders. Expedite progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra work orders as per contract. Calculate all productivity and material yields per plans, proficiency in math required. Arrange and conduct construction field services as required. Estimating takeoff for change order work. Support upcoming bids through project takeoff, material/subcontractor procurement, and site visits. Employees may also be assigned other work as required. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Engineering or Construction Management Degree or equivalent in a combination of experience and education. OSHA 10 certification. Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. Pass a pre-employment physical. Strong planning and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change. Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong customer orientation. Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to act in a professional manner with customers and represent the company with integrity. Ability to give and receive honest, balanced feedback. Ability to interact with subcontractors, state and local officials, other employees, and management at different levels. Prior experience in supervision, safety, or construction management preferred. Physical Requirements The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will work in both office and field settings. Allowed to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Noise level normally quiet to moderate.
