Lecturer, Mechatronics Engineering Program

Job Description The Department of Aerospace Engineering in the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland is searching for a Lecturer in the Mechatronics Engineering Program at the Shady Grove campus. This is a full‑time academic year appointment that requires instruction of in‑person lectures, laboratory experiences, and student competition teams. Mentorship of individual students on research projects is encouraged. Summer support may be provided for a suitable work activity if program funds are available. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Teach 5–6 classes per academic year in the Mechatronics Engineering (ENMT) program. Five of the courses will be conventional lectures or laboratories, and one will involve curriculum development, advising, and other supporting activities. Develop curriculum materials for the following courses: ENMT‑322 Discrete Signal Analysis ENMT‑380 Introduction to Robotics ENMT‑372 Robotic Systems ENMT‑473 Motion Planning for Autonomous Systems ENMT‑477 Machine Learning in Mechatronics Engineering Prepare lecture notes, homework assignments, exams, and laboratory modules, and document and archive these materials each semester. Administer courses through elms.umd.edu, using the ELMS platform for grading, publishing materials, and distributing solutions. Submit final grades within 48–72 hours following the final exam. Support the ABET accreditation of the Mechatronics Engineering program by providing evaluation materials each semester under the program director’s direction. Support continuous pedagogical improvement, develop laboratory modules, provide student advisement, and participate in recruiting initiatives. Qualifications Minimum qualification: A Ph.D. degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline, with teaching experience at the college/university level in mechatronics and/or robotics.
