Middle School ELA Teacher (Future Opportunities)

Be willing to grow in their profession. Create and manage the classroom in a positive manner, respecting the dignity of all. Embrace the FXW Mission and Charisms. Complete annual goals and seek professional development opportunities. Maintain a positive rapport with all members of the FXW community. Fulfill routine duties and expectations in a dependable manner. Middle School ELA (5-8) Program Description FXW’s 5th through 8th grade English/Language Arts program provides students with a rigorous curriculum that gives them access to a wide range of texts that reflect themselves and help them understand the perspectives of others. The curriculum includes authentic experiences for students to read and write along their diverse literacy pathways, with direct instruction in comprehension, word study, vocabulary, and grammar. Middle School ELA (5-8) Teacher Primary Functions Teachers serve one grade level as homeroom teachers, advisors for a section, and may teach a section of religion. They are members of a grade‑level team and work to educate the whole child, providing a quality learning experience to all students. Compliance Complete required new hire paperwork and mandatory Archdiocese training. Clear Background Check/Fingerprints. Monitor and enforce compliance with internal policies. Attend additional training classes as designated by security or administrative staff. Qualifications and Requirements A bachelor’s or master’s degree in education. A valid State of Illinois teaching certificate (preferred). A master’s degree in a curriculum area (preferred). Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships with co‑teachers and staff. Strong interest in teaching in an inclusive faith‑based school and comfort teaching a religion curriculum. Key Relationships The teacher reports to the Campus Principal and is supervised, evaluated, and mentored by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal. Key relationships also include campus leadership, Head of School, other teachers and administrators, staff, students, and parents. Physical Requirements Stand for extended periods while teaching and move around the classroom. Speak clearly and project voice to be heard by students. See details of objects at various distances. Hear sounds and focus on one source of sound while ignoring others. Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble small objects. Remain physically active and engaged throughout the day. Kneel, squat, or stoop to interact with students or access materials. Adapt to different classroom environments and activities. Work Environment High level of social interaction with students, parents, and staff. Manage diverse student behaviors and create a positive learning environment. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues via phone, email, in‑person meetings, and written correspondence. Resolve conflicts with students or parents. Work as part of a team with other educators and staff. Work indoors in classrooms, sometimes outdoors for physical education or sports activities. Use technology for instruction, communication, and assessment. Travel locally between campuses as necessary. Compensation and Benefits FXW offers a competitive salary and robust benefits program, commensurate with experience and consistent with independent schools. Expected compensation for this role includes a salary within the range of $54,820–$64,696.
