Anticipated SY 26-27 Middle School Teacher (Science)

Teacher Location: North/Northwest Side, 2701 West Foster Avenue (Lyman Budlong Elementary) Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39 Job Responsibilities Under the supervision of the school principal, responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes, and performs related duties as required. Essential functions include: Instructional planning, including lesson plans, preparation, and maintaining accurate records of pupils' achievements; Implementing instructional methods, applying contemporary learning theory and teaching methodology, and using available instructional materials; Participating in development and implementation of new teaching techniques and providing bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils' current work; Applying knowledge of curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level; Participating in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti‑vandalism programs; Establishing and maintaining classroom and school ground conduct rules, consistent with the Uniform Discipline Code; Maintaining accurate attendance records and seating charts, encouraging student growth in self‑discipline and positive self‑concept; Conducting appropriate conferences with parents/guardians, administrators, and staff, and communicating with parents/guardians about academic progress, attendance, and conduct; Participating in in‑service and professional staff meetings, coordinating class field trips, and working in extra‑curricular and after‑school activities; Utilizing community resources effectively. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework needed for an Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate. Valid teaching license: Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, modern teaching practices, and classroom and behavior management techniques. Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs, work with faculty and administration to implement instruction, and collaborate with pupils, parents/guardians, staff, and community representatives. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and professional judgment. Physical Requirements Light work: lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, or negligible force constantly. Physical demands include stooping occasionally, frequent reaching, handling objects occasionally, constant verbal communication, use of near visual acuity, and occasional use of visual acuity.
