This is a hands‑on HR role with primary responsibility for employment compliance, employee documentation, benefits administration, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, and workers’ compensation. The HR Manager will help ensure HR practices are accurate, consistent, well‑documented, and compliant with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The ideal candidate has strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington, is comfortable navigating sensitive employee matters, and can translate complex HR requirements into practical solutions for employees and managers. The HR Manager will work closely with the Chief People Officer, employees, managers, benefits brokers and vendors, workers’ compensation partners, and other internal stakeholders. This individual must be highly organized, detail‑oriented, discreet, and able to work independently while exercising sound judgment and escalating matters when appropriate. Essential Functions HR Compliance & Employee Documentation Monitor and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with particular focus on California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington. Monitor changes in employment laws and assist with implementing required changes to policies, procedures, forms, and HR practices. Conduct periodic audits of employee records, HRIS data, personnel files, and compliance documentation. Ensure employee documentation, required notices, records, and forms are accurate, complete, timely, and properly maintained. Support the development and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, forms, and process documentation. Identify potential compliance risks and partner with the Chief People Officer and/or legal counsel on complex or high‑risk matters. Benefits Administration Partner with the company’s benefits broker, carriers, and vendors to administer health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and other benefit programs. Coordinate annual open enrollment, including employee communications, system updates, vendor coordination, and issue resolution. Monitor benefit eligibility, enrollments, qualifying life events, status changes, and terminations. Assist with benefits audits, reconciliations, invoices, eligibility files, and required reporting. Resolve employee benefit issues in coordination with brokers, carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Leaves of Absence & Accommodations Administer and coordinate leaves of absence in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements and company policies. Manage leave documentation, required notices, certifications, tracking, communications, extensions, and return-to-work processes. Coordinate applicable FMLA, CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, state‑specific leaves, military leave, disability‑related leaves, and other protected leaves as applicable. Support the interactive process and reasonable accommodation process for employees with disabilities or medical restrictions. Coordinate with employees, healthcare providers, managers, vendors, and other appropriate parties to obtain and maintain required documentation. Maintain confidential leave and accommodation records and ensure applicable deadlines are met. Escalate complex or potentially high‑risk leave and accommodation matters appropriately. Workers’ Compensation & Safety Coordinate workers’ compensation claims from initial report through resolution, working with employees, managers, claims administrators, carriers, and medical providers as appropriate. Ensure workplace injuries are documented and reported timely and accurately. Monitor claims, work restrictions, modified duty, and return-to-work status. Maintain workers’ compensation records and support claims reviews, audits, and renewal activities. Support workplace safety programs, required training, employee communications, and safety initiatives. Maintain applicable OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other required workplace safety records and documentation. Employee Relations & HR Operations Serve as a knowledgeable resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, workplace concerns, and employment practices. Support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance issues, corrective action, and policy interpretation. Provide managers with practical guidance regarding performance management, employee documentation, and policy application. Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality throughout employee relations matters. Support the employee life cycle, including onboarding, employment changes, transfers, promotions, performance management, leaves, and offboarding. Support other HR programs, projects, and organizational initiatives as assigned. HRIS, Paylocity & Reporting Serve as a knowledgeable administrator and super user of Paylocity, maintaining accurate employee data and HR transactions. Administer and audit HRIS processes, including employee changes, onboarding and offboarding, benefits‑related transactions, reporting, and other HR data requirements. Identify and correct data discrepancies and ensure HRIS records are accurate and aligned with supporting documentation. Develop and maintain HR reports, compliance trackers, audits, and other management reporting. Use Paylocity and other HR data to identify trends, discrepancies, compliance concerns, and opportunities for process improvement. Help optimize HRIS processes and workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and employee service. Requirements

Human Resources & Employment Law Strong working knowledge of HR principles, employment practices, and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. Strong working knowledge of California employment law required; working knowledge of Oregon, Nevada, and Washington employment requirements strongly preferred. Strong understanding of leave administration, reasonable accommodations, employee documentation, benefits, workers’ compensation, and HR compliance. Compliance & Risk Management Ability to identify potential compliance issues, research requirements, and recommend appropriate next steps. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Sound judgment when handling confidential, sensitive, or potentially high‑risk employment matters. Ability to recognize when a matter should be escalated to the Chief People Officer and/or legal counsel. Communication & Interpersonal Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex HR information clearly and professionally. Strong listening skills, discretion, and emotional intelligence. Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, vendors, and leadership. Organization & Problem Solving Highly organized with strong follow‑through and attention to deadlines. Strong critical thinking, information‑gathering, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Comfortable working independently while exercising sound judgment and accountability. Technical Proficiency Demonstrated hands‑on experience administering an HRIS; Paylocity experience strongly preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to create, interpret, and audit HR reports and data. Experience with benefits, payroll, leave, workers’ compensation, or other HR systems preferred.VALUES ALIGNMENT

Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant experience with HR compliance, benefits, leave administration, employee documentation, and/or employee relations. Experience supporting a multi‑state workforce strongly preferred. Experience administering HR programs in California required; experience supporting employees in Oregon, Nevada, and Washington strongly preferred. Experience administering leaves of absence and reasonable accommodation processes required. Experience working with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, third‑party administrators, and/or HR vendors preferred. Experience coordinating workers’ compensation claims preferred. Hands‑on Paylocity experience strongly preferred. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred. Requirements Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee, medical, benefits, compensation, and other sensitive information. Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet time‑sensitive compliance deadlines. Ability to travel to company locations as needed.
