Position Summary 

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, the Kitchen Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting and delivering prepared meals, food supplies, and kitchen-related items to contracted sites. The driver follows assigned delivery routes and schedules, maintains food safety and sanitation standards during transportation, and ensures meals and supplies are delivered accurately and on time.

The Kitchen Driver is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the assigned vehicle, completing routine vehicle inspections, and coordinating scheduled maintenance as needed. The incumbent is expected to represent Elevate Community Services in a professional and respectful manner when interacting with kitchen staff, shelter staff, participants, and contracted site personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Safely operate assigned vehicles while following defensive driving practices, assigned routes, and RH Community Builders policies and procedures.

• Transport and deliver prepared meals, food, beverages, kitchen supplies, and other approved items to contracted sites according to established schedules.

• Ensure meals and food items are transported in a manner that maintains appropriate food safety, temperature control, sanitation, and quality standards.

• Verify delivery quantities and ensure the correct meals and supplies are delivered to each assigned site.

• Load and unload food, meals, equipment, and supplies safely and appropriately.

• Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery times, quantities, and any discrepancies .

• Communicate with the kitchen manager regarding deliveries, missing items, changes to schedules, or other delivery-related concerns.

• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned vehicle and food transportation equipment.

• Conduct routine vehicle safety inspections and promptly report mechanical, safety, or maintenance concerns.

• Coordinate and maintain scheduled vehicle maintenance and ensure the assigned vehicle remains in safe operating condition.

• Follow all applicable food handling, sanitation, health, and safety requirements while transporting meals and supplies.

• Maintain the security and proper handling of food, supplies, equipment, and company property while in transit.

• Maintain confidentiality of company procedures, records, and information regarding participants, clients, families, staff, and operations.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

  Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in working with a frail population required.

• Experience in transporting individuals with special mobility needs preferred

• Previous commercial driving experience strongly preferred

• Valid CA Driver’s License
