Title STUDENT ACCOUNT SPECIALIST Agency VP OF ADMIN AND FINANCE Location Norfolk, VA FLSA Non-Exempt Hiring Range Full Time or Part Time Job Description Ensure due diligence is followed in processing Title IV and Federal Perkins Loan transactions while ensuring that all reconciled differences are resolved monthly. Performs all University billings and actively followup to collect the University's receivables. Process refunds and adjustments promptly and accurately and ensure compliance with University, Federal and State guidelines and regulations. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, accounts receivable, and financial recordkeeping principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to accurately review, audit, analyze, and reconcile high-volume financial transactions; perform calculations; research and resolve account discrepancies; and prepare routine financial reports and statements. Ability to interpret and consistently apply University policies and applicable federal and state regulations, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and document account activity thoroughly. Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet, email, and related financial or student information systems, with the ability to learn new systems and processes. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer-service skills, including the ability to explain complex account information clearly and tactfully to students, parents, and University departments. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, collaborate effectively, follow through on unresolved matters, perform accurately under pressure, and meet established deadlines in a high-volume environment.
