Job Description

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a welder to develop and refine MIG welding skills in a supportive, small-company environment. You will perform MIG welding and fabrication work, read and interpret blueprints, measure parts with precision tools, and help maintain a clean, organized work area while supporting production in welding bays.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on assigned parts and assemblies according to specifications and quality standards.
• Grind welds and parts to clean up weld metal and ensure smooth, finished surfaces.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and welding requirements.
• Use calipers and micrometers to accurately measure Auger Flight and other components.
• Verify that welded parts meet required measurements and quality criteria before moving to the next stage.
• Clean and organize the welding station to maintain a safe and efficient work area.
• Assist in prepping welding bays, including staging materials and coordinating with helpers.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required protective equipment, including a welding helmet.
• Communicate effectively with team members to support smooth workflow and production goals.
• Participate in training and skill development activities to improve welding and fabrication capabilities.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on MIG welding experience in a fabrication or training environment.
• Understanding of weld symbols and their application in fabrication work.
• Basic fabrication skills, including working with metal components and assemblies.
• Ability to use calipers and micrometers for precise measurement of parts.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and finished parts.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow safety protocols.
• Welding certificate from a high school or technical school program preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with typical hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday work as needed. The setting is a fabrication and welding shop where doors may open frequently, so it can be cold in the winter and dressing warmly is important. The dress code includes jeans without holes, boots, and a T-shirt, and you must provide and wear your own welding helmet. The environment emphasizes safety, practical hands-on work, and collaboration in a production-focused shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orion, IL.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
