Sterile Processing Technician - GI Services (Travel)
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPD/CST) for a GI Services assignment in Hazel Crest, IL - just 30 minutes from Chicago. This is a structured department with consistent workflow and shared weekend rotation.

Position Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- First-time travelers: Accepted upon review
Required Certification
- SPD (CRCST/CBSPD) or
- CST
Core Responsibilities
- Decontamination
- Running washers
- Sterilization
- Tray assembly
This is a hands-on role requiring strong workflow efficiency and attention to detail.
Equipment / Systems
- SPM (Sterile Processing Management system)
Floating
- None
Orientation
- 1 full week on the unit
Scheduling & Call
Weekend Rotation
- 1 weekend per month
- Saturday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (scheduled shift)
- On-call: Saturday 3:30 PM - Monday 7:00 AM
- 30-minute response time required
Team members participate equally in weekend work and call rotation.
Additional Notes
- Up to 7 days RTO can be approved
- Block scheduling will NOT be accommodated
Additional Policies
- Scrub color: Procedural
- No artificial fingernails or extenders
- Natural nail tips must be less than inch long when providing direct patient care
This assignment is ideal for a dependable SPD or CST who is comfortable with GI workflow, tray assembly, and weekend call participation in a teaching hospital environment.
