Our continued success is driven by our commitment to safety, reliability, quality, and operational excellence.Position Summary:The Maintenance Manager is a critical site leadership role responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, and facilities operations at the Mt. Clemens plant. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all plant equipment and utilities, while driving a proactive maintenance culture and continuous improvement initiatives.The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians, planners, and contractors, and works closely with Engineering, Operations, EH&S, and Quality to support production reliability and long-term site strategy.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & People ManagementLead, develop, and coach a high-performing maintenance and reliability teamEstablish clear expectations and drive accountability to safety, reliability, and performance goalsBuild organizational capability through training, development, and succession planningFoster a culture of safety, ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvementMaintenance & Reliability ExcellenceDevelop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategiesDrive improvements in equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiencyLead troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and process equipment issuesImplement reliability initiatives including:Root cause analysis (RCA)Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)Equipment & Facility ManagementOversee maintenance and performance of key plant systems, including:Mixing, batching, and dispersion equipmentPumps, piping, and fluid handling systemsReactor SystemsUtilities (boilers, compressed air, HVAC, ventilation systems)Ensure proper maintenance of facility infrastructure and critical systemsProcess Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirementsSupport and execute key safety processes, including:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)Confined space entryHot work permitsMechanical integrity programsPartner with EH&S to ensure safe operation in a hazardous chemical environmentPlanning & ExecutionImplement and manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Develop and execute planned maintenance schedules and shutdown activitiesManage spare parts strategy and critical equipment inventoryOptimize maintenance workflows to improve response time and efficiencyCapital Projects & Continuous ImprovementSupport and lead maintenance-related capital projects and equipment upgradesPartner with Engineering on equipment installation, commissioning, and startupDrive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and costIdentify opportunities to improve equipment performance and extend asset lifeFinancial & Budget ManagementManage the maintenance operating and capital budgetsControl costs while maintaining high levels of equipment reliabilityEvaluate and prioritize investments in maintenance and reliability improvementsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with:Operations to support production goals and uptimeEngineering to align on capital and reliability strategyQuality to ensure product integrityEH&S to maintain safe and compliant operationsServe as a key member of the site leadership teamMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment3+ years of leadership experience managing teamsStrong knowledge of:Mechanical and electrical systemsMaintenance planning and schedulingSafety and regulatory requirementsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in coatings, chemical, or process manufacturing environmentsExperience with CMMS systems SAP PM, Maximo, etc.Lean / Six Sigma certificationReliability certifications (e.g., CMRP)Experience supporting PSM-covered processesWork Environment & Expectations:Manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and industrial equipmentAbility to support off-shift, weekend, and emergency response needsHands-on leadership role with frequent plant floor engagementAxalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
