Job Title: Patient Care Technician

Certifications: BLS Certification, Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant via NHA

Must-Have:
BLS and PCT certification via NHA
Telemetry experience

Description:
The department focuses on telemetry care.
There are tele/monitor techs on the unit.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and do not take a patient assignment unless necessary.
There are 3-4 nurses' aides on each shift, with no specific ratios for assistance.
Job duties include patient care, activities of daily living (ADLs), blood sugar checks, vital signs monitoring, and more.
PCT shifts are available during the day, evening, and night.
Schedules are typically organized for 4-6 weeks at a time.
Management seeks to accommodate traveler availability to balance the schedule.
PCTs are expected to remain flexible to fill gaps in the permanent staff schedule.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.
Employees may be asked to participate in holiday rotations.
There is no call or standby requirement.
The first to float policy is in place for staff.
Scrub color is maroon red.
There is a unit-specific orientation consisting of classroom training and preceptor shadowing.
Cancellation policy allows the client to cancel a limited number of shifts without penalty during the assignment.
Charting is conducted using a specified system.
