Ambulatory Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 2x12-Hour (10:00 AM - 10:20 PM), Monday to Friday.

Job Description

The Ambulatory Outpatient Surgery RN will provide quality nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This role involves preparing patients for surgery, monitoring them during recovery, and ensuring their safe transition back home. The RN will work in collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams, including Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery, including IV establishment, vital sign monitoring, and medication reconciliation.
• Receive patients from PACU and assist them in recovery processes.
• Administer medications, including blood products and fluids, as necessary.
• Conduct thorough assessments and provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain a 1:1 patient ratio pre-operatively and a 1:4 ratio post-operatively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of charge experience in a relevant setting.
• Experience with Epic charting system is required.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory.
• Valid state nursing license must be in hand at the time of submission.
