Hardware Engineering Intern

Job Summary The Control Systems Hardware Engineering Intern will assist in the maintenance of existing control systems and the development of new control systems. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Work with team members in the design, development, prototyping and testing of hardware for HVAC and building automation control systems and ancillary devices. Oversee partial or complete hardware development of digital and analog control systems from schematic development and review to prototype production and full production documentation. Work with project leaders and stakeholders to develop design criteria for specific projects, document design criteria creating SOW and estimate work required. Evaluate components and design schematics, using Altium, to achieve design goals and design the PCB with all necessary production documentation, including BOMs. Work with supply chain management to order parts for prototyping. Build and perform initial testing on prototype, including working with Pick‑and‑place equipment and other lab equipment. Provide full production documentation for contract manufacturers (CM). Write test software for the product and collaborate with software development engineers to support specialized hardware operations. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Education and Experience Requirements Pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with preference for a senior standing. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Self‑directed and motivated. Technical writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word. Good communication skills to work with the engineering team and others outside the team, including AAON personnel, reps, customers and vendors. Work Environment Lifting up to 30 lbs. Sit, stand, kneel, and reach throughout the shift. Work in noisy, hot, or cold environments as needed. Schedule is Mon – Fri, 40 Hours per week during summer of 2026. #J-18808-Ljbffr AAON, Inc.
