Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to adult patients on a telemetry-enabled Med-Surg unit, including post-operative ortho, urology, and GI cases, COPD, CHF, diabetes, dementia, and end-of-life needs
• Monitor, interpret, and respond to telemetry rhythms; perform NG tube insertions and peripheral IV insertions as needed
• Administer prescribed medications and therapies; utilize Sigma IV pumps, PCA pumps, and relevant unit equipment
• Collaborate with LPNs/LNAs and unit staff; participate in shift handoffs and ensure continuity of care
• Document accurately in the electronic health record (Epic); communicate changes in patient status to the care team and families
• Coordinate with Respiratory Therapy and other disciplines for complex care; anticipate patient needs and respond to alarms promptly
• Maintain patient safety and apply sterile technique; uphold professional standards of dress, hygiene, and communication

Requirements

• Active RN license on file and in good standing at submission; licensure appropriate for the listed location
• BLS and ACLS certification required; Telemetry Certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required prior to start
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years
• Telemetry experience: required; ability to apply, interpret rhythms, and take appropriate actions
• 5 years of Med-Surg Tele experience OR 3 years of Tele experience required
• Prior travel experience required (minimum 2 travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities OR prior experience at a UVM Health Network acute care facility)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience overall; 1 year of experience in the Med-Surg Tele specialty
• Ability to float to related units as needed; unit expects teamwork and flexibility
