Core Sales & Account Management
- Generates and develops new B2B business to meet specified sales goals
- Maintains and nurtures assigned customer accounts to build the customer base
- Negotiates, inputs, and manages sales orders, bookings, and contracts
- Responds to inquiries regarding plant availability, quality, photos, and quotes
- Manages client contact via phone, email, and direct on-site customer visits
- Functions as a liaison between customers and internal operations or logistics staff
- Inspects crops in the field prior to shipping
- Gathers information on local competition and regional industry trends
- Operates specialized equipment including golf carts and all-terrain vehicles
- Works in outside weather conditions with frequent exposure to heat, cold, and humidity
Industry Experience & Financial Metrics
- Three plus years of sales experience within a horticulture or nursery environment
- Deep understanding of horticulture sales channels and the regional customer base
- Bachelors degree in horticultural studies or equivalent specific industry experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suites and capable of learning internal inventory software
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, and sales commissions
- Proven ability to prospect, cold-call, and close new business
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow, multiple projects, and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presentations and reporting
