Electrician - Union Helper

Job Overview This position is responsible for insuring the integrity and safe working condition of all shop and billboard mounted electrical components and systems. Responsibilities Installation and repair of wiring and conduit within the scope of the NEC (National Electrical Code). Repair and maintenance of electrical fixtures and control equipment, including time clocks. Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of material and provide access for future maintenance. Lock all disconnects when leaving a sign. Install equipment such as lighting fixtures, relays, ballast, breakers, disconnects, circuit breakers and fuses. Use the lock‑out/tag‑out method. Identify and promptly report any unsafe conditions observed. Maintain billboard‑mounted digital displays including repairs. Operate safety harnesses, ladders, multimeter, power tools and hand tools. Physical/Mental Demands & Environment Climbing and working at elevated heights in various weather and heat conditions, sitting, walking, standing, speaking, hearing, reading, kneeling, lifting, and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs. Perform multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions. Requires verbal and written communication and detailed work with confidentiality. Equipment Used Safety harness with lanyard and other personal protective equipment. Various ladders. Multimeter to determine voltage. Power tools and hand tools. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 2 years of electrical experience. Ability to climb and work safely at elevated heights of 60 ft or more. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Ability to troubleshoot and fix electrical problems. Licensed electrician or sufficient knowledge and experience to be a qualified person in a sign/billboard work environment. Experience with voltages from 120 to 240 volts single phase and 208 volts three‑phase. Compensation Salary range: $20–$23 per hour.
