Summary: The Retail Fulfillment Center (RFC) Operations Supervisor leads and develops a team of Ashley Associates with focus on motivating, mentoring, and coaching the team to achieve the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, performance, and productivity. This position is responsible for engaging the team and providing associates with the tools needed for success while driving productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem solving. The RFC Supervisor is accountable for all safety, quality, productivity, process improvement, and performance management for the assigned process path.
Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership & OSHA Compliance
Champion all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all employees
Complete safety walks within area of responsibility; validate and document safety incidents
Lead process improvement events to improve safety standards and reduce workplace hazards
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to promote safety awareness and safe work practices
Investigate incidents and accidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols
Enforce safety policies and maintain a culture of safety-first throughout the operation
Inventory Integrity & Control
Control inventory integrity within area of responsibility through systematic monitoring and auditing
Partner with Inventory leadership regularly to discuss inventory gaps, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities
Create and execute action plans to correct systemic and behavioral issues that negatively affect inventory integrity
Monitor cycle counting activities and ensure accuracy targets are met
Implement controls and procedures to prevent inventory loss, damage, and errors
Train team members on proper inventory handling, documentation, and accuracy procedures
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
Lead process improvement events such as Kaizens, system upgrade implementations, safety blitzes, general process path projects, and efficiency initiatives
Coach and teach LEAN and other continuous improvement strategies and methodologies within specific area of responsibility
Own the validation and quantification of financial gains of process improvements
Facilitate problem-solving workshops and continuous improvement events to eliminate waste
Implement best practices to optimize workflows and enhance operational efficiency
Track improvement metrics and report results to leadership
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance
Regularly partner with cross-functional team members to ensure that effective flow and quality standards are being met
Work to ensure that area of responsibility is in compliance with regulatory standards set by the company
Partner regularly with support functions to ensure that area of responsibility is current with ongoing initiatives as well as to develop new ways to close process gaps
Collaborate with Quality, Safety, HR, Inventory, and other departments to optimize end-to-end operations
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to drive alignment and results
Team Leadership & Employee Development
Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area's goals
Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to and quality standards are maintained
Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews
Recommend, plan, and/or implement employee training and skill development activities to build organizational capability
Audit, maintain, and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate and comply with company policies
Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities
Foster a positive team environment focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Resource Management & Optimization
Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials
Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining service quality
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and coordinate with Maintenance on preventive maintenance schedules
Balance workload and staffing levels to meet operational demands efficiently
Monitor productivity metrics and drive performance to meet or exceed targets

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in distribution center, warehouse, or logistics operations
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
Strong understanding of warehouse processes including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping
Knowledge of inventory management principles and accuracy improvement techniques
Excellent leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate and develop employees
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making approach
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and warehouse safety best practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Physical ability to walk distribution center floors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
Additional Qualifications, Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
3-5 years of distribution center supervisory experience in retail, furniture, or manufacturing distribution
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
Supply chain certification (APICS, CSCMP, or similar professional certification)
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) such as SAP, Manhattan, or similar platforms
Experience in furniture, retail, or manufacturing distribution operations
Knowledge of labor management systems (LMS) and engineered labor standards
Background in process improvement methodologies including Kaizen, 5S, and value stream mapping
Experience with performance metrics, KPI tracking, and data analysis
Understanding of continuous improvement tools and LEAN principles
Work Environment:
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety-sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
