Overview: As an associate Data Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building a leading and innovative market data platform that underpins our business. You will contribute to the build out and upkeep of Capstone’s data platform. You will have the chance to boost your career in a fast-paced and ambitious team that strives to create state-of-the-art tools for a range of data-related activities including onboarding, analysis, sourcing, quality checking, and lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will have essential expertise in creating and maintaining market data platform pipelines and tools. You will have relevant experience working with financial data and exposure to various data stores such as Snowflake, Redshift and timeseries databases. As a liaison between technical teams and business users, excellent communication skills are a must. Responsibilities and Impact: Develop data solutions that enable investment professionals to efficiently extract insights from data. Build tools and automation capabilities for data pipelines that improve the efficiency, quality and resilience of our data platform Working directly with Product and Portfolio Managers to understand their data needs and provide end-to-end data solutions that address requirements Work with timeseries databases (e.g., MongoDB, OneTick) to store, query, and manage tick data efficiently. Build out data quality and integrity tools to ensure robust data validation and error handling. Investigate data issues, working with data providers to ensure seamless interconnection between different data sets The ideal candidate is an intellectually curious self-starter, who wants to develop skills in a fast-paced environment, has the ability to be proactive, responsive and multi-task efficiently, and a desire to create relationships across Capstone through collaborative work with the firm’s Investment, Technology, Operations, Finance and other teams. The candidate should be humble, results-oriented and have the flexibility to adapt to quickly changing circumstances and priorities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary for success in this role. Our future colleague has these skills: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering with a focus on market data Proficient in Python with demonstrated experience leveraging big data tools (e.g spark, cloud platforms) Experience in MongoDB and/or other timeseries databases Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with, and inspire, a wide cross section of data professionals. Bonus Skills: Experience with AWS ecosystem, familiar with S3 and Lambda function is preferred Demonstrate experience working with streaming data pipelines Essential knowledge working with providers like Bloomberg and Refinitiv Experience working with trading teams, data teams and infrastructure teams Benefits and Compensation Information: Our team is our most important asset and investment. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
